Becoming A LocalOwning In Plymouth Meeting
With deep roots in the history of our nation, the area known as Plymouth Meeting was originally founded back in 1686 by a group of Quakers from the City of Plymouth in Devonshire, England, who purchased the 5,000 acres of land from William Penn. In 1702, The Dickinson Farmstead was built, which is now a historical site and led to the growth of the town. Shortly thereafter, the The Plymouth Friends Meeting house was built on the corner of Germantown Ave and Butler Pike. The space is known to have been used as a temporary military hospital during the revolutionary war and still stands today.
In present day, Plymouth Meeting is known as a hub for local shopping and dining in the Montgomery County area, with direct access to major commuter roads like the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-276), the Blue Route (I-476), and the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-146). Residents have the opportunity to shop at the Plymouth Meeting Mall, which boasts major department stores and high end brands, as well as LEGOLAND Discovery Center, an interactive experience for LEGO fans of all ages with rides, attractions and much more fun to be had.
Another key feature of the area is the award-winning Colonial School District, which U.S. News & World Report ranks 46th in the State, and 35th in the Philadelphia metro region. With rich history to be learned, gorgeous areas to explore, and close proximity to Philadelphia, Plymouth Meeting is the perfect blend of city and suburb.
